The heat wasn’t the only thing blazing for the Muskegon Big Reds in its season opener at Kentwood High School on Friday night.Quarterback Myles Walton was on fire, along with the Muskegon offense.

The Big Reds offense raced out to 34-0 halftime lead, enroute to a 47-7 victory against the Falcons to start the season with offensive heat.

The Big Reds played sound defense and offense, capitalizing on huge runs throughout the game.

“From the time we got off the bus, to the time we got off the field, to the time after halftime, they just were ecstatic to be out here.” said Muskegon Coach Shane Fairfield about his team’s enthusiasm to play in the 2021 season opener. “They were excited to play football.”

Walton scored three rushing touch

downs for Muskegon, including a huge 94-yard scoring run. The four-year varsity star also had scoring runs of 37 and three yards.
 
Jakob Price also broke off exciting plays for the Big Reds, finding room for a 92-yard touchdown rush and a 64-yard strike.
 
Destin Piggee had a 9-yard scoring rush of his own while Jeremiah Dault caught a 20-yard scoring pass from Walton.

Muskegon finished the game with 393 total yards to East Kentwood’s 192.

The Big Reds start their 2021 home campaign at Hackley Stadium next week against perennial powerhouse Detroit Cass Tech.
