Oakridge outpaced visiting Hart in an explosive West Michigan Conference football matchup Friday night.

The Eagles benefited from a dominant second quarter en route to a 56-32 win over the Pirates.

Oakridge was led by a trio of running backs who each scored touchdowns.

Corey Vanderputte led the way for the Eagles (4-1, 2-1) with 165 yards on nine carries with three touchdowns while Trevor Jones added 57 yards on eight carries with a score and Brenden Raymond had 43 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.

The Eagles’ passing attack was led by quarterback Matt Danicek, who was 7-of-9 for 129 yards and a touchdown pass to Lorenzo Garcia. Vanderputte led the way with 75 yards on three catches.  

Hart (2-3, 0-3 WMC) provided an offensive explosion of its own. Chance Alvesteffer ran for 85 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Kellen Kimes ran for 57 yards on nine carries and threw for 129 yards on 9-of-19 passing, including two touchdown passes to Revin Gale.

The Oakridge defense was led by Brenden Raymond who tallied six tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss. Kimball Hanks also totaled six tackles on the night.

Trenton Swihart and Kellen Kimes had strong defensive performances for the Pirates as they made nine tackles and eight tackles with two tackles for loss, respectively.

The Eagles will travel to North Muskegon to play the Norsemen next week.

The Pirates will go on the road to Ravenna next week for another road conference game.
