The Hart boys soccer team surpassed last season’s win total on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Ravenna.

The Pirates are now 5-5-2 this season and 1-3 in the West Michigan Conference.

Starting the Pirates off 15 minutes into the game was Isaac Rodriguez who found the back of the net on a head ball off a throw in from Tony Rayo. The tally marked Hart’s eighth goal of the season off a head ball.

Minutes later, Gian Luca gave Hart a 2-0 lead on on a give-and-go play set up by Rodriguez.

The Pirates ended the half up 2-1.

Rodriguez started Hart off in the second half with a goal off a Blane Bromley assist. Bromley intercepted a through pass and put it right back through to Rodriguez who buried the shot to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead.

Hector Navarro put Hart up 4-1, cleaning up a Guillermo Ortega shot that rang off the post.

Luca scored the Pirates final goal getting his second of the night.

Hart keeper Kyann Clark made six saves in net.

The Pirates improve to 5-5-2 and prepare for their home tournament on Saturday against Kent City, Fremont and arch rival Shelby.
