The West Michigan Whitecaps fell 1-0 on Friday night at South Bend, dropping their season record to 0-2.

The lone run of the game came in the second inning when Tyler Durna of South Bend scored on an RBI groundout by Rafelin Lorenzo.

Christopher Proctor led the Whitecaps offense with two of the Whitecaps four total hits. Jose King and Reece Hampton each had one hit for West Michigan.

Starting pitcher Wilkel Hernandez took the loss for the Whitecaps, allowing one run on three hits while also striking out four in four innings of work.

Angel De Jesus and Maddux Conger combined to surrender only two hits over the final four innings for the Whitecaps.

The Whitecaps will kick off the home portion of their season on Saturday when they host South Bend at 4 p.m.
