A 24-7 deficit in the second quarter proved to be too much for the Mona Shores varsity boys basketball team to overcome Friday evening, as the Sailors fell to O-K Green Conference foe Wyoming, 73-50.

Mona Shores grabbed a 14-13 lead after one quarter, but the bottom fell out during a tough second quarter and the Sailors trailed, 37-21, at halftime.

The Sailors cut their deficit to 11 and trailed 50-39 after three quarters, but Wyoming put the finishing touches on its big win by pulling away in the fourth.

Parker Swartz posted 15 points and seven rebounds for the Sailors, while Keontae Richards threw in 10 points and recorded two assists.

Ethan Krueger led Mona Shores in rebounding with eight, while Donovan Russell had seven rebounds, scored six points and dished off two assists on the night.

Mona Shores sinks to 6-7 with a 3-4 record in the league. The Sailors will travel to Grand Rapids Union next Friday for a conference showdown.
