MUSKEGON — Three girls combined to score 36 points as the Ludington girls basketball team posted a convincing 56-14 road win Friday night over Orchard View in the Lakes 8 Activities Conference.

It wasn’t a contest after the Orioles shut the Cardinals out, 18-0 in the first quarter. Ludington had a 15-8 advantage in the second and built a 33-8 halftime lead.

Ludington had a 19-4 advantage in the third quarter, making it 52-12 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Orioles had a 4-2 edge in the fourth period.

“The girls came out strong and set the tone defensively,” Orioles head coach Warren Stowe said.

“Rylee Stone did a great job of running the floor, and RyAnn Rohrer and Keelyn Laird consistently found girls on the run.”

Stone, Rohrer and Laird each scored 12 points to lead the Orioles while Olivia Lynn added nine and Karli Mesyar six.

Liz Estelle led the Cardinals with six points.

Ludington stretched its winning streak to 10 in a row, and improved its record to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Orioles are next scheduled to see action at home Tuesday, Feb. 15 against Cadillac in a non-conference game.

Orchard View fell to 1-16 overall and 0-8 in the league. The Cardinals will next see action at home Friday, Feb. 18 against Western Michigan Christian.
