FRUITPORT — Mason County Central’s girls basketball team ended the regular season with a 61-37 non-conference win over Fruitport Calvary Christian on Friday night in Fruitport.

The Spartans got off to a solid start, shutting out Calvary Christian, 12-0 in the first quarter. They outscored Fruitport, 13-8 in the second period and took a 25-8 lead at the half.

Mason County outscored Calvary, 15-8 in the third quarter and entered the fourth period leading, 40-16. Each team scored 21 points in the final eight minutes.

Wren Nelson led all scorers with 14 points for the Spartans, and she also ripped down 15 rebounds. Grace Weinert added 17 points and five steals.

Fruitport CC was led in scoring by Cate Anhalt with 14 points and McKena Wilson added 10.

The Spartans finished the regular season 14-6 overall and 9-5 in the West Michigan Conference. Mason County Central hosts the district tournament next week, and opens up with McBain on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.

Fruitport CC ended the season 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the Alliance League. Calvary is scheduled to take on Catholic Central in the district Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Catholic Central.
