NORTH MUSKEGON–Doing some serious damage for the Whitehall boys basketball team was Camden Thompson who put the Vikings on his back with a dominating 32 point performance to outlast North Muskegon 69-61 and add another West Michigan Conference win under their belt on Friday evening.

Jumping ahead first, the Vikings outscored the Norse 17-10 in the first quarter, but found themselves outplayed in the second.

The Viking’s lead deteriorated to a single point as the Norse opened up their scoring putting up 19 points to Whitehall’s 13 points to bring the score to 30-29 at the half.

The Vikings came out of the half-time break rejuvenated and fired off a 17-9 scoring run in the third quarter to advance their lead to 47-38.

Making an attempt at a last quarter comeback the Norse turned up the heat offensively posting 23 fourth quarter points, but the Vikings always had an answer finding some success from the line shooting 16-of-20 and putting up 22 points of their own to ensure the victory.

Making an incredible impact for the Vikings Thompson recorded a double-double in the win grabbing 18 rebounds. Also chipping in production was Brodie Fogus with eight points and three rebounds and Red Watson with seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Leading the way for the Norse was Troy McManus who scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds while Sam Gallo and James Young threw in 12 and nine points respectively.

Whitehall climbs to 8-4 and sits atop the WMC with a record of 7-2. The Vikings are set to visit Manistee on Tuesday.

North Muskegon drops to 9-5 with a 6-5 record in the WMC and will next play host to the Ravenna Bulldogs on Thursday in conference action.
