HESPERIA – There was simply no stopping Hart’s girls basketball team on Tuesday as the Pirates ran through Hesperia, 97-8.
Hesperia couldn’t find a solution for Hart’s offense as the Pirates set a new school record, scoring 97 points in a game. The previous mark was set at 89 back in 1994.
It was apparent that the Pirates would control the game early on as they jumped out to a 37-5 advantage after just the first quarter. Hart shutout Hesperia in two of the game’s four quarters as well, making for a potent combination.
Hart freshman guard Rilynn Porter had a career night, scoring 34 points – 20 of which came in the game’s opening frame. Abby Hicks (26 points, 14 steals, seven assists) and Addi Hovey (25 points, 11 steals and nine rebounds) came close to triple-doubles as well.
Hart (5-2, 4-0 WMC Rivers) kept rolling with the win and remained unbeaten in conference play. The Pirates will travel to Holton for a meeting with the Red Devils on Friday.
Hesperia (1-6, 0-5 WMC Rivers) lost their sixth straight game and things won’t get much easier for the Panthers as they host Mason County Central on Friday.
Great job to the Hart Pirates! These games are hard to play believe it or not. Thankful for good attitudes from players on both sides! But man, 34, 26, 25 points with steals and assists that kept the bookkeeper and managers busy!
Love being a pirate ?☠️❤️
If you’re up that many points there is absolutely NO EXCUSE to have starters still be in. Period. Terrible coaching and sportsman ship from Harts coach. The person who wrote this article isn’t much better degrading high school basketball players by saying “things won’t get much easier” after an almost 90 point loss!? Disgusting.
