Drew Collins was once again heroic, this time on the basketball court.

Collins nailed a game-tying three-point shot with 10 seconds remaining, then forced a turnover and scored the game-winning bucket with two seconds left to lead Montague over Oakridge 50-48 on Wednesday in a West Michigan Conference game.

The Wildcats were led by Collins, who scored 27 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Isaiah Archison chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Montague led the first quarter 12-10 and had a 24-23 advantage entering halftime but trailed 38-31 at the end of third quarter. The Wildcats closed out the contest with a 19-10 run.

Ethan Jozsa led Oakridge with 15 points.

Montague is now 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the West Michigan Conference, while the Eagles are now 3-4 overall.

NON-LEAGUE

ORCHARD VIEW 84, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 47- Ke’Ontae Barnes led the Cardinals with 23 points along with 12 steals defensively in a non-league win on Wednesday over Fruitport Calvary Christian.

JJ Tinstall added 15 points for OV, while teammates Dains Williams had 12 and Donovan Daniels chipped in with 10.

The Cardinals led 46-32 entering halftime and didn’t look back on their way to victory.

The Eagles were led by Braden Cohea with 14 points while Jacob May added 12 on the night.

Orchard View is now 7-0 overall while the Eagles have a 3-3 overall record.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 55, NORTH MUSKEGON 49– Owen Varnado had a huge second half to help the Warriors in Wednesday night’s non-league victory.

Varnado had 27 points, 21 of which came in the second half, while Brekken Fairfield added 10 points for the victorious WMC.

The Warriors led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter, 30-26 at halftime and 44-41 at the end of the third quarter.

North Muskegon was led by Brennen McManus with 13 points while Troy McManus added 10.

LUDINGTON 62, WHITEHALL 48- David Shillinger led the Orioles with 16 points and five steals while Brad Mesyar added 15 points on five three-point baskets in Wednesday night’s non-league win.

Peyton Lacombe also finished with a double-double for Ludington, notching 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Ludington led the 24-13 in the first quarter, 32-21 at halftime and 43-40 at the end of the third quarter.

Whitehall was led by Dayton Cole with 11 points and seven rebounds while teammate Andrew Durbin finished with nine points.

The Vikings scratched their way back from a 14-point deficit to come within a single point in the fourth quarter before Ludington pulled away for the victory.

Ludington is now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the Lakes 8 Conference, while the Vikings are now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the West Michigan Conference action.

MANISTEE CATHOLIC 46, PENTWATER 43- Khloe Hoffman had a huge game in Pentwater’s loss on Wednesday night.

Hoffman was able to score 27 points while teammate Tyler Plummer-Eisenlohr had seven.

The Falcons are 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
