HART–The Shelby girls soccer team continued their rivalry with Hart as they managed to squeeze away a 3-2 win in a West Michigan Conference battle on Tuesday evening.

The Tigers came out hot and established the lead early as they netted three goals in the opening 10 minutes.

Halftime adjustments worked greatly in the favor of the Pirates. Shots became hard to find for the Tigers and Hart slowly began to build some momentum.

With nine minutes left to play, a costly foul outside of the net would put the Pirates on the board as Julia Greiner snuck in a free kick for a goal.

The Tigers fought to not give up any more ground, but the Pirate’s weren’t quite done.

Cristelia Rangel rocketed a shot for a goal in the last four minutes to cut the Shelby lead to 3-2.

The Tigers held on in the closing minutes to shut down the Pirates.

Shelby (1-1,1-0) will host Newaygo on Thursday in a non-conference tilt.

Hart (0-3, 0-1) will travel to Grant on Friday.
