HART — Hart’s girls softball team swept a West Michigan Conference doubleheader from visiting North Muskegon, 5-3 and 10-5 at home Monday afternoon.

Finley Kistler was dominating in the circle for the Pirates in the opener, and Abby Hicks displayed some strong hitting late in the game.

Kistler pitched a complete game, walking just two batters and striking out eight.

Mariana VanAgtmael rapped out two hits to lead the Pirates at the plate, and Hicks drove in three runs.

Scoring five runs in the seventh inning, the Pirates broke away from the Norsemen to win the nightcap.

Kistler started the game in the circle for the Pirates and was touched for four runs in the first two innings. Gabby Quijas came out of the bullpen to shut the Norse down over the last five innings, allowing one run in the seventh to pick up the win in relief.

Gabbryella Schmieding was the pacesetter on offense with three hits for the Pirates. VanAgtmael, Kistler, Quijas and Kesley Copenhaver each added two hits.

Hart improved to 7-6 overall and is next scheduled to play at Whitehall on Thursday.
