MUSKEGON–Mona Shores center midfielder Mia Brown has committed to continue her athletic career at Calvin University.
Brown, a senior, was pulled up to varsity at the end of her freshman season and has been there ever since.
This year, Brown currently has 3 goals and 4 assists and has helped lead the Sailors to a spot atop the OK-Green and a 9-3-1 overall record.
“Mia is an elite-level talent that plays the game the right way,” Mona Shores coach Dylan Darga said. “She has the ability to control the flow of games, and has the ability to take them over. Players like her are very hard to replace. She’s been an intricate part of our success these past three years. She has the ability to make an immediate impact at Calvin.”
Calvin, an NCAA Division III school, went 13-4-1 last year, 7-1 in the MIAA . It made the DIII playoffs before being knocked out in the second round by Loras.
At Calvin, Mia will join her older brother Ethan, who plays on the men’s soccer team.
Brown has a 3.714 GPA at Mona Shores. She is planning to study nursing at Calvin.
Mia is the daughter of John Brown and Kristen Woods.
It’s great to see the work she has put in has paid off. Anhalt (WMISTORM) really does a great job of preparing his players for the next level and helping them find that path. She will do great things at Calvin for sure!
