FRUITPORT–The Fruitport Trojans’ running game was unstoppable on Friday night.

The Trojans rushed for 407 yards on their way to a 37-20 home victory over the Coopersville Broncos. The game was played on Fruitport’s brand new field turf stadium.

Fruitport got off to a hot start with 14 first-quarter points. Paschal Jolman and Cody Nash each scored from 5 yards out.

Coopersville got on the board one minute into the second quarter with a 43-yard touchdown pass to cut the Fruitport lead in half at halftime 14-7.

The floodgates opened in the fourth quarter after Collin Jolman found a seam and ran a score in from 29 yards out to give the Trojans a 22-7 lead.

Paschal Jolman found the endzone 4 minutes later to increase the lead to 30-7. The ensuing kickoff was returned for a touchdown by the Broncos to make it 30-14.

Collin Jolman ran 43 yards out on the Trojans’ next possession to put the game away.

Collin Jolman totaled 15 rushes for 166 yards rushing with two touchdowns. Paschal Jolman had 14 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew B. Fielstra carried the ball 10 times for 79 yards.

Collin Jolman was 5-for-7 through the air for 61 yards. Nash was the leading receiver with three receptions for 31 yards.

Nash was the leading defender with eight tackles. Brock Dornbos added seven tackles and a sack. Andrew J. Fielstra and Nash Cooper each added a sack. Bobby Canfield intercepted a Broncos pass.

Fruitport (3-2, 2-1 in the OK-Blue) travels to rival Spring Lake next Friday.
