KENT CITY–The Kent City soccer team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday night in a 3-0 loss to Grand Rapids West Catholic.

The game was scoreless after one half. Kent City spent most of the first half in the middle or defending third. The back line of freshmen Yonatan Duran and Aaron Vanderwest and senior Seth Vanderwest stood tall in that opening half.

The Eagles earned more chances early in the second half and began to gain the momentum. With 27 minutes to go, Kent City was hit with a red card to a key defender on a West Catholic breakaway. The Falcons scored the ensuing free kick to take the 1-0 lead.

Kent City mustered 10 more minutes of solid play and got a few chances on net, but they eventually ran out of steam.  The Falcons scored two goals in the game’s final 15 minutes.

Kent City (13-2-2) won its first conference title this season and set a school record for most victories.
