PONTIAC –The Western Michigan Christian volleyball team wrapped up the MiElite Tournament with a record of 1-2 on Saturday.

The Warriors split the action in pool play with a loss to Traverse City St. Francis (18-25, 18-25, 9-25) and a tight victory over Royal Oak Shrine (22-25, 25-23, 25-23).

The performance was good to claim second place and advance to gold bracket play with a first-round bye.

The Warriors opened up strong against a tough Pewamo-Westphalia, but lost steam and fell in three sets (25-20, 16-25, 7-15).

Kendal Young led the day with 56 assists and six aces followed by Abby Leffring with 22 kills and eight blocks.

Nora Anderson and Ella Hawke added five and four kills, respectively.

Western Michigan Christian will take on Mona Shores Saturday.
