NORTON SHORES–Mona Shores senior Robyn Hunt has been chosen as one of two swimmers of the month for the month of September by the Local Sports Journal.

Hunt is a 4-year swimmer for the Mona Shores High School/Greater Muskegon co-op team  and is a 2-year tri-captain. She is a dual sport athlete as she also is a member of the Mona Shores girls’ cross country squad.

Hunt is a distance swimmer for the Sailors. She swims the 100-butterfly, 500-freestyle (where she has only been defeated once in 2022) and the 200-freestyle.

Robyn also participates on relay teams as needed, by Coach Mick Homan.

“Robyn is one of the top swimmers on our team,” said Homan. “She is a great leader both inside and outside of the pool. We have a fantastic relationship and she has obtained a lot of honors. I have a lot of respect for her because of the things that she is going through this season.”

Hunt has been recruited by the North Central College Cardinals-Chicago and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Robyn’s mother is currently battling breast cancer.

According to Homan, Mona Shores will host a swimming meet on Thursday, Oct. 20, “Swimming For The Cure” at Muskegon High School.

Robyn is the daughter of Sheila and Devon Hunt. Robyn has a 4.419 grade-point-average.
