Grand Haven’s girls swim team finished fourth in the Division 1 state meet.

En route to that finish, the Bucs’ 200-yard freestyle relay won the state championship.

The two-day event was at Oakland University.

Swimming on the relay were Rosales Springer, Olivia Schafer, Grace Ackerman and Claudia Busse. Ackerman. That foursome also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Buccaneers also had four second-place finishes, including one in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Ellie Todd, Busse, Ackerman and Springer. Springer collected a pair of second places, one in the 200-yard IM and another in the 400 freestyle relay, and she was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Mona Shores senior Delaney Buckner captured All-State honors and paced the Greater Muskegon Co-op to a tie for 27th place in Division 1.

Ludington (30 points) brought home three medals from the Division 3 state finals and finished 22nd in a field of 39 schools at Holland.

The Orioles’ 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Madison Bearup, Erika Hatch, Cora Mahler and Reese Willis finished 10th.

Buckner finished ninth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.18 seconds. She also placed 14th in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.84.

Mahler missed qualifying for the final day with a 17th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and 18th in the 100-yard butterfly in the preliminaries and the 200-yard freestyle relay team was 20th.

Spring Lake finished in 23rd with 27 points.

Hannah Brown finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle. The Lakers’ 200-yard freestyle team of Tegan Rose, Kyla Meyers, Tori Fouchea and Kate Grinnell was 12th and the 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Rose, Fouchea, Meyers and Brown was 12th.

Rose, Fouchea, Meyers and Brown were 11th in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
