GRAND RAPIDS — In a high scoring affair Wednesday night, the Hart boys’ basketball team emerged triumphant with a 64-59 non-conference victory over West Michigan Aviation Academy.

It was the Pirates’ seventh straight win.

The Pirates trailed until the final minutes, relying on a hard-nosed man-to-man defense to get the stops when they needed them most.

Caleb Bitely and Wyatt Dean led the defensive charge for the Pirates by helping create the offensive chances they needed in transition.

Offensively, senior Parker Hovey posted a triple-double for the Pirates with 34 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. He also contributed three steals and two blocks.

Also contributing for the Pirates was senior Diego Escamilla who knocked down three 3-point shots, including the one that gave Hart the lead for good, and finished with 11 points. Hart junior Blake Weirich added nine points and 12 rebounds.

Hart (7-0) travels to North Muskegon on Friday in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division.
