FREMONT–The Fremont Packers boys basketball team hosted the Ravenna Bulldogs on Thursday evening and came away with a 69-42 non-conference victory.

Leading the way was Jordon McDonald, who turned in another solid game for the host Packers.

Ravenna managed to keep things close during the first eight minutes as the Packers got out to a 18-15 lead. From that point, Fremont increased their lead each quarter.

The Fremont defense limited the Ravenna offense during the second stanza as they outscored the Bulldogs 14-4 to carry a 32-19 lead into the half.

Fremont extended its lead to 54-36 by the end of third period with a 22-17 scoring advantage. The Packers closed out the final eight minutes with a 15-6 scoring edge.

“I thought we played with good effort again,” said Fremont coach Adam Bowen. “We didn’t execute defensively as well as we have been, but overall, there are a lot of positives to build on.  We shot the ball well for the second game in a row.  Credit the kids for working hard on their shooting over the past few weeks.”

McDonald led Fremont with 24 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists.  He also had two big dunks. Gavin Richards had another solid game with 14 points and eight rebounds.  Chaz Miller had nine points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals.

Carter Schullo led the Ravenna with 17 points. Drew Mabrito tossed in 10 points and Wyatt Young chipped in six points.

Fremont (7-4, 3-3) will travel to Grant next Tuesday.

Ravenna (4-9, 3-3) will host Holton on Friday, Feb. 3.
