The Wildcats surged to a 38-17 lead after three quarters.

Emma Peterson led Montague with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Haylee Schwarz had eight points and five rebounds. Ella King had six points and five rebounds.

Grace Philpot led North Muskegon with 10 points, including 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Fran Vinson added eight points and five rebounds. Georgia Skujins had five rebounds.

“We had a very satisfying first quarter with our defense getting stops that led to some breaks that we were able to finish,” North Muskegon coach Sarah Knuth said. “Montague’s second-quarter full court pressure flustered us and we threw the ball away repeatedly that they turned into easy points.”
