KENT CITY–Kent City junior sharpshooter Maddie Geers scored her 1,000th career point on Tuesday evening as the Eagles cruised by the Morley-Stanwood Mohawks, 65-49.

The game was in Central State Activities Tournament.

With the win, Kent City (18-3, 10-1) is scheduled to face Big Rapids on Thursday for the league title.

On Tuesday evening Geers not only reached the 1,000th point milestone, but she led Kent City with 19 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists and coming up with four steals. Her senior teammate, Lexie Bowers, tossed in 17 points, while hauling down a team-high nine rebounds. Bowers had seven assists to go along with two blocked shots.

Alyssa Miller scored eight points and had four rebounds. Kent City connected on 11 shots from beyond the arc and seven out of eight players score points.

The Eagles jumped out to an 18-7 lead after one quarter and extended their lead to 36-15 by the half. They outscored the Mohawks 18-8 during the second stanza.

Kent City led 48-34 heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring Morley 17-15 during the final eight minutes.

Lynsey Biller led Morley-Stanwood with 17 points.
