FREMONT — It was a battle from start to finish as the Newaygo Lions and host Fremont Packers battled to a 1-all standoff in girls’ soccer on Tuesday.

Mia Clemence put Fremont ahead near the midpoint of the opening off a corner kick.  That score did not change until McCaiden Riensora knotted the game for the Lions seven minutes into the second half.

Both teams had scoring chances, but neither could find the back of the net.

Fremont outshot Newaygo, 6-4. Fremont’s Hallie Snyder made five saves. Newaygo’s Barbara Toth had three saves.

Fremont improved to 1-1-1. Newaygo is 0-0-1.
