MUSKEGON — The Oakridge Eagles swept Ludington in a West Michigan Conference baseball doubleheader on Tuesday.

Oakridge won the opener 6-0 and the nightcap, 4-2. The second game was shortened to six innings due to darkness.

Oakridge was led by Michael Wambaugh with two hits and two RBI. Gage Lowry knocked in a pair of runs. Winning pitcher Brody Jennings scored three runs and Evan Miller scored two.

Nathan Dillehay threw the first four innings of the opener for the Orioles. He gave up four hits, one walk and struck out six. The Orioles committed four errors.

In the second game, Miller, Jennings and Matt Danicek each had two hits and two RBI for the Eagles. Jennings also knocked in a pair of runs. Wambaugh was the winning pitcher.

Ludington’s Jonny Weinert was on the mound in Game 2 and allowed four hits in 4 2/3 innings. The Orioles were guilty of four more miscues in the nightcap.

“The key difference tonight was offense,” Ludington coach Evan Kroeze said. “We did not capitalize on our scoring opportunities, as we left 11 runners on base. Overall, we learned a lot from this first time on the field and we look forward to competing against Fruitport this Friday at Marsh Field.”
