WAYLAND — Ravenna suffered its first loss of the season in the opener of a doubleheader on Thursday at Wayland.

The Bulldogs dropped the first game, 5-4, then won the nightcap, 7-6.

In Game 1, Wayland plated the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Emma Gillard took the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs. She allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out four.

Leading hitters for Ravenna included Emma Herremans with two hits, including a double and Addison Gillard with a pair of singles. Kara Postema had a double and Emma Gillard had a triple.

In the second game, Riley Homoly was the winning pitcher after giving up six runs on 11 hits, two walks and three strikeouts.

Emma Gillard had three hits to lead the way. Herremans had two hits, one a double.

Ravenna is now 14-1, 4-0 in league play.
