MONTAGUE — For one month, the Whitehall Vikings and Montague Wildcats paused their softball game.

After eight innings, the game was tied at 19-all before it was stopped.

On Tuesday, Whitehall scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning and defeated the Wildcats, 24-19.

Hailey Carnes and Kierra Hyrns led Whitehall with three hits each. Carnes also had three RBI.  Onnyka Dempsey and Evelyn Darke added two hits each. Annabelle Kevwitch, Lianne Fagan and Evelyn Darke had three RBI each.

Lucy Tucker shut down the Wildcats in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win.

In the second game, the patient Vikings walked 10 times en route to a 17-6 victory over the Wildcats. Sophomore Bella Fogus provided the big fireworks fwith her first varsity home run, a grand slam. Evelyn Darke continued her solid hitting with a pair of hits and Annabelle Kevwich also added two hits.

Megan LeaTrea picked up the win, going four innings and giving up one earned run on three hits.

The Vikings finish the regular season 18-14 overall, 10-2 in the conference. Whitehall will take on Tri-County in the district semifinals in Fremont on Saturday.
