REED CITY — The Fremont Packers battled back from a deficit in the late innings and overcame Reed City, 11-10, in the opener of a non-league doubleheader. Reed City won the nightcap in convincing fashion, 10-0.

Fremont, which had 19 hits, trailed 8-7 in the top of the sixth innings when Izabel Austin ripped a two-run triple. Maddie Baden (five hits), Sage Vandenberg, Mckenzie Gusins, Rainee Dey-Rayl, Baylah Parker and Elise Pfeiffer each had multiple-hit games.

The Packer bats fell silent in the second game with just five hits. Isabell Guy was the winning pitcher for Reed City.

On Tuesday, Fremont hosts Grant in a pre-district game.
