The Fruitport Trojans gained a split of a baseball doubleheader on Tuesday against league foe Grand Rapids West Catholic.

Fruitport won the opener, 6-2, and lost the nightcap, 11-3.

In the opener, Fruitport got their offense started with a full-count, two-run double by Tommy Anderson, who also hit a home run in the sixth inning.

In the nightcap, West Catholic gained the upper hand early on and coasted to the victory.

Trevor Rusnak was on the mound for the Trojans. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs while striking out eight.  Braxton Ward threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Jax Flynn went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Fruitport.
