NORTH MUSKEGON — The Kent City Eagles received a complete-game pitching performance from Jacee Hoffman on Tuesday and defeated host North Muskegon in a Division 3 pre-district softball game.
Hoffman allowed three earns runs and struck out 14 en route to the 8-3 victory. Kent City will face Newaygo in the next round of districts.
On Tuesday, Kent City raced out to a 6-0 lead by the top of the fifth inning.
Lexie Bowers and Jade Mortensen had two hits each for Kent City. Hannah Stellini added a double.
North Muskegon was led by Rylee Cooper, who blasted a two-run homer in the bottom for the seventh inning. Audrey Brown had two hits, one a double, while Maddy Balon and Lidia Carty each added a pair of hits.
