SHELBY — In a tight defensive battle, the Montague girls’ soccer team pulled out a thrilling 1-0 victory over Shelby on the Tigers’ pitch Wednesday.

After the two teams finished in a 0-0 draw after one half, Peyton Johnson scored the winning goal for Montague from 25 yards out from the left side of the goal. 

The score came eight minutes into the second half. From there, Montague managed to hold the Tigers out over the remaining 32 minutes. It was the West Michigan Conference league finale for both teams.
