MUSKEGON — Summer has arrived and that means the Greater Muskegon Golf Tour is about to begin.

A group of area golf courses are promoting the game of golf to young golfers throughout the area. One way to do that is with a summer junior tour.

The program offers competition at a fun level. The purpose is to prepare young golfers for the future whether that be at the high school or college level. Boys and girls of all ages are welcome to join.

Tournaments will be, for the most part, played on Mondays at area courses with a starting time of 9 a.m.

Boys and girls from grades 8-12 will play 18 holes per tournament. Younger grades will play nine holes.

The first event is June 19 at Benona Shores, followed by Moss Ridge on June 26, Lincoln Golf Club on July 10 and Old Channel Trail on July 17.

The registration fee is $30 and covers all administrative fees. Golf clinics will be available for an addition charge.

Tournament fees are $23 for 18 holes and $18 for nine holes.
