MUSKEGON — The Muskegon Clippers’ offense continues to shine in the early going of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League.

On Friday night, the Clippers put up another nine runs in a 9-4 victory over the Royal Oak Leprechauns in a game played at historic Marsh Field. Through the first four games, all Clipper victories, the offense has produced 36 runs.

The Leprechauns got on the board first on Friday when Lucas Rick belted a solo home run.

From there, the Clippers took over by scoring five runs in their half of the first inning. Two walks with the bases loaded, an RBI single by Aaron Piasecki and a two-run single by Stoney Smith had the Clippers off and running after one inning.

The lead grew in the third inning when Smith plated two more runs with another single.

In the fifth, Muskegon added a pair of runs when Smith scored on an error and Aidan Arbogast had an RBI single.

Piasecki led the Clippers with four hits, including a double. Smith had three hits, four RBI and two stolen bases and Colin Cornwell had a pair of hits.

The Clippers started Griffin Firestine, who pitched one inning. Jack Decker came on in relief and picked up the victory with five innings of work. He allowed one hit and struck out four. He was followed by Ben Alderson with two innings on the mound and Brandon Scheurer, who pitched the ninth.

Joshua Getz had three hits and two RBI for Royal Oak (1-3).

The teams will play at Marsh Field again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
