EAST LANSING–The Manistee Chippewas couldn’t maintain their momentum heading into the second round of the MHSAA Division 3 golf state finals.
The Chippewas were in second place after the first day with a round of 327. However, Saturday was a different story as Manistee shot a 346 and ended up in seventh place with a two-round score of 673.
The meet was played at Forest Akers West in East Lansing.
Grand Rapids Catholic Central took home the state shooting a 614. They were followed by Lansing Catholic at 649 and Saginaw Swan Valley finished in third place at 652.
Junior Jacob Scharp led Manistee with a two-day total of 157, which was good for 10th place. Freshman Max Scharp finished with a of 170 while senior Jordan Bladzik finished at 172. Junior Braydon Sorenson shot a 178 and senior Ben Schlaff finished out the scoring Manistee at 188.
In the MHSAA Division 4 state finals, Pentwater senior Andrew Kolenda shot a two-day total of 166 and finished in 25th place as an individual qualifier. Teammate, senior Elias Marjassalo, shot 185 as he finished in 76th place.
The Division 4 finals took place at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek.
