NEWAYGO — Two impressive performances earned the Ravenna Bulldog softball team a berth in next week’s Division 3 quarterfinal softball game.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs defeated Remus Chippewa Hills 16-0 in three innings. In the title game, Ravenna defeated Grandville Calvin Christian, 8-1. It was Ravenna’s first regional title since 2005.

In the championship game, Emma Gillard was the winning pitcher against the Squires. She allowed one run on five hits and struck out three.

Addison Gillard led the Bulldog offense with four hits, one a double. Emily Postema had three hits, including a home run, and Emma Herremans added three hits as well. Amelia Porter chipped in two hits.

In the semifinal game against Chippewa Hills, Addison Gillard pitched a three-inning perfect game with six strikeouts.

Herremans and Emma Gillard each had three hits. Herremans had a triple and a double while Gillard had a double. Kendra Denhof had two hits and Riley Homoly belted a home run.

Ravenna will head into quarterfinal action at 4 p.m. Tuesday against Buchanan, which won its regional title on Saturday. Tuesday’s game will be played at Cornerstone University.
