MUSKEGON — The Calvary Knights jumped out to an early lead on Saturday and cruised to a 34-12 victory over the Central Michigan Bengals in United Football League action.
 
The victory improves the Knights’ record to 4-2, which is No. 2 in the conference and No. 4 overall in the league.
 
A Derrick Johnson interception on the opening drive shut down the Bengals and put the Knights in a position to take the early lead. C.J. Walker connected with Dalvin Walker on a 22-yard pass to put the Knights up 6-0.
 
Dedrick Fondren caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Walker for the touchdown. Walker then hooked up with Trevon Cosse on the 2-point conversion and the lead grew to 14-0.
 
The lead grew to 20-0 by halftime when Walker hit Cosse on a 42-yard touchdown pass. The conversion failed.
 
The Knights’ defense accounted for the next score that boosted the advantage to 26-0. DavVeon Taylor scooped up a fumble and dashed into the end zone.
 
In the fourth quarter, Walker scored on a keeper from 3 yards out to make it 34-0.
 
Fumbles late in the final quarter allowed the Bengals to score a pair of touchdowns.
 
Walker finished the game 18-of-22 for 217 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 77 yards and one score. Cosse had eight receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown. Matt Hogan added 77 yards on seven carries.
 
On defense, Keith Taylor ad seven tackles. Jugg Mabry had six tackles and one sack. Telo Covington had an interception and Markeon Hardy had two tackles, one fumble recovery and an interception.
 
Calvary hosts the Grand Rapids Surge at 7 p.m. Saturday at Oakridge High School.
