KENT CITY–The Kent City boys and girls cross country teams dominated the Early Eagle Invite on Tuesday afternoon at Kent City High School.

In the boys’ race, Kent City senior Samuel Martini led the way for the Eagles finishing in the top spot with a time of 17:00.13 as Kent City finished with a score of 40.

They were followed by Muskegon Catholic Central, which had 58. Other local team scores included Newaygo with 175 points (sixth place) and Walkerville with 178 points (seventh place).

Other top runners for Kent City were Jaren Vogel (fifth), Brandon McCullough (ninth), Gage Stray (11th) and Fernando Diaz-Guzman (14th).

Top individual runners for Muskegon Catholic Central included Owen Lyonnais (fourth), Jacob Lyonnais (sixth), Jack Walkenhorst (seventh), Lukas Rennells (16th) and Nathan Walkenhorst (25th).

Top individual runners for Newaygo included David Castrejon (20th), Zachary Spaulding (37th) and Tristan Jordan (41st)

The top two individual runners for Walkerville were Aron Mascorro (15th) and Hunter Tinkham (38th).

In the girls’ race, Kent City junior Lila Volkers finished first overall with a time of 19:19.47 to lead the Eagles to final score of 45. Newaygo was close behind at 53. Muskegon Catholic Central came in sixth place with a score of 163.

Other top runners for Kent City included Gracie Houtman (third), Alisha Esquivel (seventh), Lydia Howard (eighth) and Kaitlyn Swift (26th).

Top runners for Newaygo included Remington Arney (third), Laura Castrejon (ninth), Thalia Pineda (10th), Joseline Sanchez Magana (14th) and Aamori Paz (16th).

Top runners for Muskegon Catholic Central were Lyla Kotecki (12th), Catherine Cone (19th), Ella Staniforth (41st) and Abby Lee (48th).
