WAYLAND –The Kent City volleyball team fell short in the Silver Bracket finals of the WMVOA Scholarship Tournament on Saturday.

The Eagles were edged out in the finals by Spring Lake, 23-25, 14-25.

The Eagles went 2-1-1 in pool play with a loss to Pewamo-Westphalia (16-25, 8-25) and wins against Spring Lake (25-18, 25-20) and Thornapple Kellogg (25-10, 25-22). The draw came against Kenowa Hills, 18-25, 25-21.

In the semifinals, the Eagles again defeated Thornapple-Kellogg, 15-25, 25-15, 15-12.

Kaden Perkins had 73 digs and 13 aces while Cailynn Hartzell had 81 assists and five aces. Maddie Geers added 68 digs, 52 kills and four blocks.

Kent City (5-3-1) will host to Lakeview in CSAA action on Tuesday.
