MUSKEGON — The visiting New Lothrop Hornets broke a 20-all tie with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and defeated Muskegon Catholic, 34-20, on Thursday night.

The game was tied after three quarters.

Kaven Uganst opened the scoring for the Hornets with a 20-yard touchdown pass from senior Jack Kulhanek.

The Crusaders answered with 4:11 remaining in the opening quarter on a 30-yard touchdown run by quarterback Bryan Convertini, who finished the game with all three touchdowns for the Crusaders.

Before the opening quarter expired, Blake Bowns put the Hornets back in the lead on a 42-yard touchdown run.

But again, Convertini found the end zone, this time from 16 yards out and MCC trailed 14-13 at the half.

The Hornets regained the lead in the third quarter when Kulhanek scored on a keeper from 4 yards out.

Convertini scored his third touchdown of the contest with 5:58 left in the third quarter on a 14-yard run. The conversion was good and the game was tied at 20-all.

Touchdowns by Rakeem Woods (49-yard run) and Uganst (3-yard run) capped the scoring and the victory for the Hornets.

Convertini rushed 18 times for 105 yards and completed 3-of-5 passes for 30 yards.

Easton Cook led the MCC defense with 10 tackles.  Convertini had 5 1/2 tackles and Jake Westhoff had five stops.

Kulhanek finished with 17 completions in 20 attempts for 177 yards Woods rushed six times for 110 yards and Uganst caught nine passes for 94 yards.

Muskegon Catholic hosts North Muskegon next Thursday at 7 p.m.
