FREMONT – The Fruitport Trojan girls cross country team had a strong day on the course on Saturday and won the Red Division in the Hill and Bale Cross Country Meet in Fremont.

The Trojans had 50 points to take the team title. Grandville was second with 70, followed by Allendale with 87, Whitehall with 87, Vickburg with 98, Fremont at 103 and Wyoming Lee with 199.

In the boys’ race, Fremont’s Sean Pettis was the overall winner with a time of 16:35.51. The Packers finished second to Allendale.

The top finisher for Fruitport’s girls was Tatum VanDyke, who finished in 20:12.12. Valerie Pollock also finished in the Top 10 with a seventh-place finish in 21;29.32. Other top finishers for Fruitport were Lauren Lee (21:59.06) in eighth place, Treasure Fleese (23:03.39) in 14th and Tresa Dykstra (23:42.64) in 19th place.

Whitehall’s top finisher was Cami Kari, who finished in third place in 20:23.85. Adalyn Britton came in sixth in 21:20.36. The Vikings’ remaining runners were Corina Mitteer in 15th place at 23:22.43, Lily Britton in 26th place in 24:30.30 and Isabella Izaguirre, who was 38th in 24:43.36.

Fremont’s Linnea Paige ran a strong race for a fourth-place finish with a time of 20:29.30. Joelle Patten was 17th with a time of 23:31.58. Elise Pfeiffer was 23rd in 24:06.18, Rachel Maddox was 30th in 25:04.95 and Kira Manchip was 31st in 25:12.37.

In the boys’ race, Allendale won the team race with 35 points followed by Fremont with 66, Whitehall at 77, Fruitport with 80 and Vicksburg with 85.

Pettis was the top runner for the Packers. He was followed by Carter Sherman, who was sixth in 17:30.70, Isaac Romero in 13th place at 18:22.32, Cole Lowery in 21st at 19:00.15 and Blake Taylor in 25th place in 19:34.02.

Stewart Waters’ fourth-place finish paced the Vikings. He finished in 17:09.34. Other top finishers for Whitehall included Hunter Parsons in 11th place in 18:16.56, Andrew Boeringa in 12th at 18:22.32, Tyler Van Antwerp in 23rd at 19:12.00 and Andrew Owens in 27th at 19:38.86.

Vincent Pollock was the top finisher for the Trojans with a seventh-place finish in 17:40.74.  Ethan Horan finished 16th in 18:36.81. Other Fruitport finishers included Levi Bol in 18th place at 18:53.54, Landon Johnson was 19th at 18:53.54 and Alex Wilber was 20th in 18:57.54.
