FREMONT – The Western Michigan Christian Warriors swept both the boys and girls races in Saturday’s Hill and Bale event at Fremont.

The White Division included the smaller schools in Saturday’s race.

The WMC girls, led by overall winner Grace Vanderkooi, finished with 20 points. In the boys’ race, Western Michigan Christian totaled 43 points to win top honors.

Following the Warrior girls with 20 points were Wyoming Potters House with 59, Montague at 64 and Newaygo with 77.

VanderKooi finished in 20:00.19, more than 1:40 ahead of the second-place runner. Other Warrior finishers included Eleanor Kingshott in third place at 22:05.14, Kaylie Riksen in fourth place at 22:15.13, Leah Sneller in fifth place at 22:18.21 and Morgan Lawrence was seventh in 22:56.42.

Montague was led by Cammie Erickson in eighth place with a time of 23:31.15, Emma Pendell in 10th at 23:47.83, Grace Torsch in 11th at 23:50.75, Erica Hansen in 20th at 25:26.94 and Greta Auch in 21st place at 25:27.91.

Newaygo’s points were scored by Remington Arney, who finished second in 21:41.95, Thalia Pineda in 14th at 24:14.08, Laura Castrejon in 18th at 25:05.63, Lillian Herrera in 25th at 26:47.86 and Aamori Paz in 28th with a time of 28:05.23.

In the boys’ race, the Warriors were led by Matthias Morse, who finished second with a time of 17:47.13. He was followed by Graeson Lawrence in fifth at 18:43.71, Reuben Anderson in eighth place in 19:09.19, Ryer Campbell in 13th at 19:28.25 and Alexander Lawrence, who was 15th in 19:42.75.

Colseon Cruzan was the top finisher for White Cloud. He came in fourth place with a time of 18:40.98. Carson Foondle was 10th in 19:19.56, Kaleb Canning was 14th in 19:38.55, Wyatt Karnes was 24th at 20:45.46 and Angelo Hinson was 25th with a time of 20:52.46.

Montague’s Clay Johnson posted a time of 18:33.23 and claimed third place. Noah Raeth was sixth with a time of 18:57.28, Alix Draves was 22nd with a time of 20:26.90, Matthew Leatherman was 23rd in 20:39.77 and Owen Raeth was 26th in 21:09.74.

Hesperia’s top runner for the day was Andrew Sherburn, who finished 11th in 19:22.30. Zack Temple finished 18th with a time of 20:02.10, Nathan Ruhstorfer was 28th in 21:46.23, Kolt Milner was 32nd in 23:36.43 and Lance Smith was 35th with a time of 24:45.07.
