Grand Haven wins two of three volleyball matches at home

GRAND HAVEN – The Grand Haven volleyball team hosted a highly competitive quad match on Saturday.

The Bucs went 2-1 with wins against Lake Orion (24-26, 32-30, 25-20, 25-18) and Lowell (20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-9). The only loss came in a five-set battle with three-time defending state champion Marion (26-28, 28-26, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12).

Izzy Whittaker recorded her 1,000th career kill and had 50 kills, 23 digs and four blocks on the day. Mallory Woiteshek added 55 kills, 24 digs and eight blocks.

Nadia Prieditis had 34 kills and 27 digs while Sara Weber and Leah Montgomery had 78 and 69 assists, respectively. Taylor Smaka threw in 84 digs and five aces.

Grand Haven (20-11) hosts Rockford on Thursday.
