Fruitport splits four volleyball matches at Byron Center Invitational

BYRON CENTER – The Fruitport volleyball team finished 2-2 at the Byron Center Invitational on Saturday.

The Trojans split pool play with a loss to Otsego (23-25, 22-25) and a win over Niles (25-13, 25-22).

In bracket play, the Trojans took down Coopersville (26-24, 20-25, 16-14) but fell to Grand Rapids West Catholic (19-25, 25-19, 8-15) in the semifinals.

Sadie Haase led with 34 kills, seven aces and eight digs while Gracelynn Olson added 57 assists, 24 digs and 12 kills. Izabel Hanson-Wilber chipped in 23 digs, 11 kills and an ace. Emma Danicek contributed 12 kills.

Fruitport (10-15) will be at Holland Christian on Tuesday.
