NORTH MUSKEGON – In their first conference action of 2023, Hart volleyball battled a tough North Muskegon team, falling 3-0.
The Pirates were in good shape to start the first set and jumped out to a lead. That dissipated after Hart made some errors that allowed North Muskegon to jump in front and take a 25-23 win.
The Norsemen built off that big come-from-behind win to take down Hart in back-to-back sets. North Muskegon took the second set 25-15 and the third 25-16.
Hart was led by Kelsey Copenhaver who had six assists, three kills, three digs, one block and a 91 percent service rate. Also chipping in were Alayna Schiller with 18 digs, Reese Smith with five kills and five digs and Abby Hicks with 14 digs, five kills, two aces and two assists.
The Pirates (6-3, 0-1 in WMC-Rivers) travel to Onekama on Saturday to compete in the Onekama Varsity Volleyball Invitational.
North Muskegon (6-3) will take on Holton next Tuesday.
