HAMILTON – The Greater Muskegon co-op swimming team fell in their first OK-Rainbow Tier 1 meet on Tuesday.

The Turtles lost to Hamilton, 104-78.

Despite the loss, the Turtles earned four first-place finishes and posted 15 personal record swims and dives.

The team of Sydney Sytsema, Susie VanBaale, Eva Stout and Marilyn Gaston finished in first place in the 200-medley relay.

Sytsema also earned first-place finishes in the 50 free (27.12) and 100 free (1:01.79) while VanBaale finished on top in the 100 breast (1:18.04). Hollen Emmick took second place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 173.35 points. Stout was runner-up in the 100 fly (1:10.13) and Gaston was second in the 100 back (1:12.28).

Maria Eenigenburg, Stout, Gaston and Sytsema also earned a second-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:55.16).

The Turtles (1-6, 0-1) will be back in the pool on Thursday at Grand Rapids Union.
