SCOTTVILLE–North Muskegon surged to a 29-0 at halftime en route to a one-sided 49-12 victory over host Mason County Central Friday night.

North Muskegon junior quarterback James Young was 10-of-16 for 239 yards and four touchdowns along with one interception.

Alec Newville was the main threat on the receiving end of Young’s passes. He had five catches for 157 yards and 1 touchdown Landon Christensen had two catches for 40 yards and and one touchdown.

Cullen Bartos had a 30-yard touchdown catch and TJ Byard caught a 9-yard touchdown pass.

Cullen Bartos led the North Muskegon ground game with 13 carries for 65 yards and one TD. Tristan Thomas had 8 carries for 56 yards and Alec Newville had two carries for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Kicker Owen Booth made 5-of-6 extra points for North Muskegon.

AJ Larkin led the Norse defense with 11 tackles and one fumble recovery. Chuck Meyers and Ace Anderson each had six tackles.

Peyton Merz scored the first Spartans’ touchdown on a 71-yard run in the third quarter, and Ethan Huffman got their second on a 16-yard pass reception.
 
Helped by that one long touchdown run, Merz finished the night with 153 yards on 32 attempts. Riley McLouth added 33 yards on nine carries.
