NORTH MUSKEGON — Holding off a determined Mason County Central girls volleyball team in a tight third set, the North Muskegon Norsemen finished off a 25-11, 10-25 and 22-25 sweep Tuesday night.

The West Michigan Conference Rivers Division match was played in North Muskegon.

“We almost came back to win the third set (which would have forced a fourth), but couldn’t clinch it,” said Spartans coach Erin O’Harra. “Our setter (Alyana Rafter) did an amazing job with some great serve receive stats from the team.”

Leading the Norsemen were Fia Lindsay with 10 kills, followed b Allie Jensen and Olivia Peterson with seven apiece while hitting four each were Sami Maker and Isabella Fornaro.

Topping the team in aces were Emma Lamiman and Jensen with three apice while Lindsay had two.

Baker had 26 assists and Jolie Fellows five. Fellows contributed 19 digs, Emma Buchmiller 10 while Jensen and Baker had nine apiece. Peterson and Fornaro had one each.

Pacing the Spartans were Rafter, who went a perfect 4-of-4 at the service line with three aces, added 15 digs, five attacks and 32 sets with eight assists.

Riley Mast was 7-of-8 serving, had two attacks, one block and one set. Wren Nelson led at the net with 13 attacks with one kill, had three digs, two blocks, one set and one assist.

Grace Weinert contributed seven attacks with two kills and one block. Mikayla McVicker added a 4-of-4 performance serving and had two digs. Emily Campbell had four attacks with one kill.

Aylin Davila was 3-of-4 serving. Tori Dunblazier was 5-of-8 serving with two aces, added seven digs, 24 attacks with nine kills and two blocks.

Ellie Bendele finished 6-of-7 serving and added seven digs and three attacks.

The Spartans improved to 6-10-3 overall, 1-3 in the WMC Rivers.
