HART – North Muskegon boys soccer headed into Wednesday’s WMC matchup with Hart sitting two games behind Ludington for the conference lead.

A 1-0 win over the Pirates now has them within striking distance of the Orioles.

A young Hart team had yet to win a conference game heading into Wednesday and they hoped an upset over the Norsemen was in store. Things were even more interesting as North Muskegon was down a few players, including one of its top scorers in Max Lasser.

The absence of Lasser was evident through the first half. North Muskegon played an aggressive brand of offense, but struggled to finish opportunities in front of the net.

To Hart’s credit, the Pirates played great defense on top of that, keeping the Norse off the board. At the end of the first half, neither team had broken through.

The Norsemen improved to 6-1-1 in the conference and remain tied with Fremont for second place in the conference. North Muskegon will host Fennville on Thursday for a non-conference bout before a big matchup with Ludington next Tuesday.
