JENISON – The Grand Haven volleyball team moved to second place in the OK Conference-Red with a solid victory over No. 7 Jenison on Thursday.
The Bucs battled to an exciting victory in five sets, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 26-24 and 15-8.
“We’ve talked all week about how this week would test us and we have to be mentally prepared,” said coach Aaron Smaka. “The team responded well to that challenge.”
Izzy Whittaker led with 17 kills, eight digs and seven blocks, while Mallory Woiteshek had 12 kills and eight digs. Taylor Smaka and Riley Warners threw in 20 digs and six digs, respectively.
Reghan Miller was credited with clutch serving in the fourth set and Sara Weber with solid play.
Grand Haven will take a trip to Pontiac on Saturday for the Beast of the East Invitational. The invite will be at the UWM Sports Complex.
