The area will be well represented this weekend when 13 local high school football teams begin play in the MHSAA playoffs.
Historically, the Muskegon area has been a hotbed for high school football and this year is no different.
Those 13 area teams will be playing in 6 of the 8 divisions. The area will not be represented in Division 1 or Division 3. In Division 6, five area teams will be vying for a state title.
Here are the opening-round pairings in district play, including dates and times. All games are at 7 p.m. Friday except North Muskegon, which hosts Union City at 1 p.m. Saturday.
