WHITEHALL – The Fremont volleyball team claimed the Division 2 district crown in an exciting comeback victory on Thursday evening.

The Packers dropped the first two sets to Oakridge, but rallied to win the next three, 21-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-12 and 15-10.

Kendall Barnhart had 20 digs and 13 kills for the Packers, while Taylor Waite threw in 11 kills and a block.  Baylah Parker had 23 digs and a pair of aces. Avery Christoffersen had 17 digs and an ace.

Lily VandenBerg and Brynna Barnhart contributed 19 and 16 assists, respectively.

The Eagles’ Madison Babinec had 20 kills, seven digs and six blocks, while Kaelinn Jozsa chipped in eight kills, one dig and a block. Mallori Whipple added two aces and two kills. Gracie Willea got 19 digs, three kills and a block. Ahria Doornbos had 15 digs, three kills and a block.

Fremont will open regional action against Spring Lake at Central Montcalm on Tuesday.
